Vermont Center for Anxiety Care

Overview

The Vermont Center for Anxiety Care is a private practice offering specialized therapy for anxiety and numerous other conditions. Our staff includes specialists in depression, relationship problems and stress.

Philosophy

Anxiety is usually a learned reaction to stress or the perception of danger (when no actual threat or danger is present). We believe that abnormal anxiety can be overcome by learning new skills and thought patterns. While medication can be helpful in the short run for some people, we believe that drugs are not usually necessary as a long-term solution. We use a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach in most cases.

Services

We offer help for children, adolescents and adults through individual counseling, group therapy, skills training, structured homework and diagnostic evaluations.

We offer help for:
  • Frequent worry
  • Difficulty relaxing
  • Intrusive thoughts
  • Repetitive behaviors
  • Panic attacks
  • Heart palpitations
  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Shaking, sweating, nausea
  • Feelings of unreality
  • Stress-related symptoms (nervous stomach; high blood pressure; muscle tension and pain; low energy and fatigue; headaches)
  • Sleep problems
  • Avoidance of places or situations
  • Depression
  • Negative attitude
  • Fear of losing control
  • Relationship difficulties

Results

Independent research shows our most frequently used anxiety program (CHAANGE) is more than 80 percent successful.
